Demand Response

Demand response (DR) is an energy management strategy that enables consumers – such as businesses or households – to adjust their electricity usage in response to supply conditions, pricing signals or incentives from utility providers. The goal is to reduce or shift energy consumption during peak demand periods to help balance grid load, enhance reliability and avoid blackouts. DR can be automated through smart systems or manually initiated, and participants often receive financial incentives or reduced rates. DR plays a key role in modern energy systems, especially as renewable energy integration and grid flexibility become increasingly important.
